A lid and base box designed for a perfume brand
With our expansion in overseas markets, the Middle East perfume market has been greatly extended. In 2021, an overseas customer from Saudi Arabia found us through the Internet. They are a large perfume box company in Saudi Arabia. With 800 physical stores, they enjoy a large sales volume. They hoped to cooperate with the development of a series of boutique packaging. We call it the Big Gift Box, which includes perfume and supporting tools.
The challenge
There were four styles in a series, and the fragrance and accessories inside each box were different. However, the box was rather large, with the smallest size being around 40cm in length, width, and height. As the box was too large, the single-layer 1250gsm substrate of the handmade box would lack support, making it impossible to demonstrate 3-d effects (customers needed to reach an agreement through price comparison, but cost control was relatively limited). Apart from this major difficulty, we could successfully complete other processes such as gold stamping, bow knot design, and waistline design.
The outcome
The aesthetics and design of the box can add an element of surprise and delight when the customer opens it. By incorporating unique features such as bows and ribbons, you can make the unboxing experience a memorable one. This positive experience can leave a lasting impression on the customer and make them more likely to share their experience with others.It was the collaboration with this company that held a special place in our heart. Our solution
To tackle our major challenge, we invested much effort in the stiffness of the carton. We changed the substrate board of different brands and also considered using 2.5mm density board as the substrate, but it still could not meet our requirements. Our colleagues proposed to use a two-layer substrate board to improve the stiffness of the box, but this solution would increase the outer diameter. However, after consulting with our customer, the proposal was eventually approved.
