Folding box with matte lamination

Introduction

This case study explores the journey of an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), in designing the packaging for their new line of electronic devices. The objective was to create packaging that not only aligned with the brand’s identity but also provided a seamless customer experience, reflecting the product’s quality and value.

The challenge

As they had full confidence in their products and didn’t want too many flashy designs, we designed a hand-made folding box. Using UV technology and screen printing, the box perfectly highlights the surface. After we sent the sample, the customer put forward a very high requirement for inspection. The gap of the stickers on the back of the box must be uniform, which was rather troublesome. We had to change the production plan, adding the extension plan of the outer stickers to the bottom, and also using wood abrasive tools to avoid the instability of manual production.

Our solution

In 2018, a biological research institute from Taiwan found us through an online inquiry. They said that they had a patented product that was OEM processed in a certain city in China and needed us to develop corresponding product packaging.

We sent senior experts to have several meetings with them and collected the data measurement of their internal products for packaging size.To reinforce brand identity, our design team integrated their visual elements, such as the logo, colors, and typography, into the packaging design.

They carefully considered the placement and size of these elements to create a cohesive and visually engaging experience. Additionally, they utilized clear and concise information graphics to communicate product features, usage instructions, and warranty details effectively.

The outcome

Having worked through a number of options with our client, we eventually came up with a box that gives a consistent and fabulous impression of the brand. The final packaging design achieved brand alignment and enhanced the overall customer experience.

The packaging combined functionality, aesthetics, and clear communication to create a cohesive and visually appealing solution. The design ensured product protection during shipping, ease of use for end-users, and reinforced the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation.
